Foster knew from an early age that nursing was the path for her. She says she
wanted to give back to those who grew up as she did--alone, scared, and without
hope. Her eventual goal is to become a pediatric nurse. “What I remember most is
how kind the nurses were to me when I was a kid,” she says. “I wanted to grow up
to be just like them. So I did.”

National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6th (also known as National Nurses Day) through May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale (the founder of modern nursing). The origins of Nurses Week date back to 1953, when President Eisenhower was urged to proclaim a National Nurses Day.
